Myrtle Beach Invitational - Murray State Falls 71-69 to UMass - Recap
UMass earned a 71-69 victory over Murray State on Friday, getting 15 points from Matt Cross at HTC Center.
UMass won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -2.5-point spread.
UMass got 14 points from Noah Fernandes and another 13 points from T.J. Weeks Jr.. Noah Fernandes contributed 5 assists, while Matt Cross cleaned the glass with 14 rebounds.
Murray State got 24 points from JaCobi Wood in a losing cause and another 14 points from Jamari Smith. Rob Perry contributed 7 assists for them, while Kenny White Jr. had 7 rebounds.
UMass was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
UMass won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 43-33.
UMass heads into a battle against South Florida. Murray State, meanwhile, will have their next action against Chattanooga.
