Elon Phoenix vs Hofstra Pride Wrap - Hofstra Wins 87-64
The battle between Hofstra and Elon didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Elon was handed a 87-64 defeat on Saturday at Mack Sports Complex.
Hofstra won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -13.5-point spread as favorites.
Tyler Thomas had 25 points for Hofstra and Darlinstone Dubar chipped in with 17 points. Jaquan Carlos had 9 assists for them, while Jacco Fritz was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 10 boards.
Elon got 24 points from TK Simpkins in a losing cause and another 9 points from Max Mackinnon. TK Simpkins contributed 4 assists for them, while Sam Sherry had 8 rebounds.
Hofstra was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Hofstra won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 38-29.
Next game, Hofstra takes its act on the road to face UNC Wilmington looking for another win. For Elon, they head home to face William & Mary.
