SMU Defeats North Texas 49-27 - Recap

SMU got a 127-yard performance from Xavier Jones as a key part of its 49-27 victory over the Mean Green on Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Bettors who backed the Mustangs were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -3.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 73.0.

Xavier Jones rushed for 127 yards, while Ke'Mon Freeman added 34 yards in the win. James Proche and Reggie Roberson Jr. added 115 and 94 receiving yards respectively.

Tre Siggers rushed for 164 yards for North Texas, while Loren Easly added 38 yards. Jason Bean threw for 33 yards for the Mean Green, while receivers Jaelon Darden and Michael Lawrence had 59 and 44 yards respectively.

North Texas lost the offensive yardage battle to SMU 503-396 yards in Saturday's game. SMU had more first downs as that total ended up 25-21.

SMU lost the time of possession battle 34:44-25:16, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, SMU takes its act home to face Texas State looking for another win. For North Texas, they head on the road to face California.
