Florida Defeats Tennessee 34-3 - Recap
The battle between the Gators and Volunteers didn't turn out to be much of a battle at all as Tennessee was handed a 34-3 defeat on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Gators were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -12.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 48.5.
Lamical Perine rushed for 62 yards, while Dameon Pierce added 39 yards in the win. Freddie Swain and Kyle Pitts added 67 and 62 receiving yards respectively.
Ty Chandler rushed for 34 yards for Tennessee, while Eric Gray added 27 yards. Jarrett Guarantano threw for 107 yards for the Volunteers, while receivers Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway had 73 and 27 yards respectively.
Tennessee was outgained by Florida 441-239 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-12 by the Gators.
Tennessee lost the time of possession battle 34:14-25:46, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Florida takes its act home to face Towson looking for another win. For Tennessee, they head home to face Georgia.
