Purdue Falls 26-20 to Hawkeyes - Recap

Brandon Smith was good for 106 receiving yards on Saturday as the Hawkeyes grabbed a 26-20 win over the Boilermakers at Kinnick Stadium.

The Hawkeyes won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -17.5-point spread. UNDER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an UNDER play.

Mekhi Sargent rushed for 68 yards, while Toren Young added 17 yards in the win. Brandon Smith and Ihmir Smith-Marsette added 106 and 57 receiving yards respectively.

King Doerue rushed for 26 yards for Purdue, while Jack Plummer added 4 yards. Jack Plummer threw for 327 yards for the Boilermakers, while receivers David Bell and Brycen Hopkins had 197 and 51 yards respectively.

Iowa outgained Purdue 362-360 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 19-17 by the Hawkeyes.

The time of possession battle favored Iowa as their offense was on the field for 35:38, longer than the 24:22 of their opponents.

Iowa heads into a Week 9 battle against Northwestern. Purdue, meanwhile, will have their next action against Illinois.
