Rutgers Falls 42-7 to Golden Gophers - Recap
Rodney Smith scampered through the Rutgers defense for 111 yards as Minnesota handed the Scarlet Knights a 42-7 defeat on Saturday at High Point Solutions Stadium.
Minnesota won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -28.0-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 46.5.
Rodney Smith rushed for 111 yards, while Mohamed Ibrahim added 62 yards in the win. Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman added 130 and 72 receiving yards respectively.
Isaih Pacheco rushed for 50 yards for Rutgers, while Elijah Barnwell added 40 yards. Johnny Langan threw for 48 yards for the Scarlet Knights, while receivers Eddie Lewis and Isaiah Washington had 18 and 17 yards respectively.
Rutgers lost the offensive yardage battle to Minnesota 443-189 yards in Saturday's game. Minnesota had more first downs as that total ended up 25-16.
Rutgers lost the time of possession battle 33:33-26:27, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Minnesota takes its act home to face Maryland looking for another win. For Rutgers, they head home to face Liberty.
