Houston Defeats UCONN 24-17 - Recap

Jeremy Singleton caught 2 passes for 103 yards against the UCONN defense as Houston handed the Huskies a 24-17 loss on Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Houston won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -21.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 56.0.

Kyle Porter rushed for 68 yards, while Bryson Smith added 29 yards in the win. Jeremy Singleton and Kyle Porter added 103 and 36 receiving yards respectively.

Kevin Mensah rushed for 93 yards for UCONN, while Art Thompkins added 46 yards. Jack Zergiotis threw for 270 yards for the Huskies, while receivers Cameron Ross and Art Thompkins had 75 and 54 yards respectively.

Houston was outgained by UCONN 438-284 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 23-16 by the Huskies.

Houston lost the time of possession battle 36:00-24:00, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Houston takes its act home to face Southern Methodist looking for another win. For UCONN, they head on the road to face Massachusetts.
