Pirates vs Huskies Final: 31-24 - Recap
Holton Ahlers's 374-yard performance through the air was the key in East Carolina's 31-24 win over UCONN on Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
Bettors who backed the Pirates were disappointed, as they failed to cover the closing number of -14.5. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 64.0.
Holton Ahlers completed 34 of 50 pass attempts for 374 yards for the Pirates in the win.
Kevin Mensah rushed for 75 yards for UCONN, while Cameron Ross added 17 yards. Jack Zergiotis threw for 418 yards for the Huskies, while receivers Cameron Ross and Matt Drayton had 169 and 99 yards respectively.
East Carolina was outgained by UCONN 527-509 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 32-20 by the Pirates.
UCONN lost the time of possession battle 32:25-27:35, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, East Carolina takes its act home to face Tulsa looking for another win. For UCONN, they head on the road to face Temple.
