Massachusetts Minutemen vs Florida Atlantic Owls Recap - Owls Win 24-2
The battle between the Owls and Minutemen didn't turn out to be much of a battle at all as Massachusetts was handed a 24-2 defeat on Friday at FAU Stadium.
Florida Atlantic did not, however, defeat the Minutemen against the spread, which closed at -34.0 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 50.5.
Javion Posey rushed for 90 yards, while BJ Emmons added 25 yards in the win. TJ Chase and Malcolm Davidson added 79 and 63 receiving yards respectively.
Ellis Merriweather rushed for 48 yards for Massachusetts, while Will Koch added 16 yards. Andrew Brito threw for -5 yards for the Minutemen, while receivers Jermaine Johnson Jr. and Samuel Emilus had 42 and 29 yards respectively.
Massachusetts lost the offensive yardage battle to Florida Atlantic 368-147 yards in Friday's game. Florida Atlantic had more first downs as that total ended up 16-8.
The time of possession battle favored Florida Atlantic as their offense was on the field for 34:50, longer than the 25:10 of their opponents.
Next game, Florida Atlantic takes its act on the road to face Middle Tennessee looking for another win. For Massachusetts, they head on the road to face Liberty.
