Marshall Thundering Herd vs Appalachian State Mountaineers Wrap - Appalachian State Wins 31-30
Nate Noel ran for 187 yards as Appalachian State handled Marshall by a score of 31-30 on Thursday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
Appalachian State did not, however, defeat the Thundering Herd against the spread, which closed at -7.0 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 59.0.
Nate Noel rushed for 187 yards, while Camerun Peoples added 78 yards in the win. Corey Sutton and Thomas Hennigan added 127 and 123 receiving yards respectively.
Rasheen Ali rushed for 83 yards for Marshall, while Grant Wells added 20 yards. Grant Wells threw for 270 yards for the Thundering Herd, while receivers Xavier Gaines and Shadeed Ahmed had 104 and 81 yards respectively.
Marshall lost the offensive yardage battle to Appalachian State 566-397 yards in Thursday's game. Appalachian State had more first downs as that total ended up 39-20.
The time of possession battle favored Appalachian State as their offense was on the field for 37:22, longer than the 22:38 of their opponents.
Appalachian State heads into a Week 5 battle against Georgia State. Marshall, meanwhile, will have their next action against Middle Tennessee.
