Rice Owls vs UTEP Miners Wrap - UTEP Wins 38-28
Gavin Hardison threw for 366 yards to lead the Miners over Rice 38-28 on Saturday in Week 12 action at Sun Bowl.
The Miners were a -9.0-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 47.0.
Gavin Hardison completed 23 of 35 pass attempts for 366 yards for the Miners in the win.
Cameron Montgomery rushed for 78 yards for Rice, while Luke McCaffrey added 43 yards. Jake Constantine threw for 183 yards for the Owls, while receivers Jake Bailey and Cedric Patterson III had 58 and 49 yards respectively.
Rice lost the offensive yardage battle to UTEP 488-390 yards in Saturday's game. UTEP had more first downs as that total ended up 23-22.
The time of possession battle favored UTEP as their offense was on the field for 31:10, longer than the 28:50 of their opponents.
Next game, UTEP takes its act on the road to face UAB looking for another win. For Rice, they head home to face LA Tech.
