49ers Fall 56-20 Against South Carolina - Game Recap
The 49ers had no answer for MarShawn Lloyd on Saturday as the Gamecocks rolled to a 56-20 win at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Gamecocks were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -23.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 66.5.
MarShawn Lloyd rushed for 169 yards, while Christian Beal-Smith added 55 yards in the win. Jalen Brooks and Ahmarean Brown added 67 and 55 receiving yards respectively.
Shadrick Byrd rushed for 33 yards for Charlotte, while Xavier Williams added 18 yards. Chris Reynolds threw for 143 yards for the 49ers, while receivers Grant DuBose and Elijah Spencer had 60 and 59 yards respectively.
Charlotte was outgained by South Carolina 545-292 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 28-21 by the Gamecocks.
Charlotte led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:28-26:32 split in that important category.
Next game, South Carolina takes its act home to face South Carolina State looking for another win. For Charlotte, they head home to face UTEP.
