North Carolina Defeats Virginia 31-28 - Recap

Josh Downs was good for 166 receiving yards on Saturday as the Tar Heels grabbed a 31-28 win over the Cavaliers at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium.

North Carolina won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -7.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 61.5.

Elijah Green rushed for 91 yards, while Drake Maye added 74 yards in the win. Josh Downs and Antoine Green added 166 and 33 receiving yards respectively.

Mike Hollins rushed for 75 yards for Virginia, while Brennan Armstrong added 64 yards. Brennan Armstrong threw for 232 yards for the Cavaliers, while receivers Sackett Wood Jr. and Sean Wilson had 94 and 61 yards respectively.

Virginia lost the offensive yardage battle to North Carolina 455-418 yards in Saturday's game. North Carolina had more first downs as that total ended up 29-25.

The time of possession battle favored North Carolina as their offense was on the field for 33:38, longer than the 26:22 of their opponents.

North Carolina looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Wake Forest. Virginia will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Pittsburgh.
