Cincinnati Defeats SMU 29-27 - Recap

The Mustangs had no answer for Charles McClelland on Saturday as the Bearcats rolled to a 29-27 win at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Cincinnati won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -3.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 59.5.

Charles McClelland rushed for 129 yards, while Corey Kiner added 43 yards in the win. Jadon Thompson and Josh Whyle added 69 and 53 receiving yards respectively.

Camar Wheaton rushed for 53 yards for SMU, while Tyler Lavine added 31 yards. Tanner Mordecai threw for 105 yards for the Mustangs, while receivers Jordan Kerley and Rashee Rice had 44 and 41 yards respectively.

SMU was outgained by Cincinnati 379-259 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 21-16 by the Mustangs.

SMU lost the time of possession battle 36:46-23:14, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Cincinnati looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against UCF. SMU will aim to get back on the winning track at Tulsa.
