Georgia Southern Falls 34-30 to Chanticleers - Recap
Grayson McCall sliced and diced the Eagles defense for 335 yards as Coastal Carolina handed Georgia Southern a 34-30 defeat on Saturday at Brooks Stadium.
Coastal Carolina did not, however, defeat the Eagles against the spread, which closed at -9.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 69.5.
Grayson McCall completed 23 of 34 pass attempts for 335 yards for the Chanticleers in the win.
Jalen White rushed for 145 yards for Georgia Southern, while Gerald Green added 30 yards. Kyle Vantrease threw for 284 yards for the Eagles, while receivers Derwin Burgess Jr. and Amare Jones had 68 and 65 yards respectively.
Coastal Carolina outgained Georgia Southern 485-462 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 24-23 by the Eagles.
The time of possession battle favored Coastal Carolina as their offense was on the field for 30:58, longer than the 29:02 of their opponents.
Coastal Carolina looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Louisiana-Monroe. Georgia Southern will aim to get back on the winning track at Georgia State.
