Golden Eagles Fall 42-14 Against Georgia State - Game Recap

The Golden Eagles had no answer for Marcus Carroll on Saturday as the Panthers rolled to a 42-14 win at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.

Bettors who backed the Panthers were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as an underdog of +2.0 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 47.5.

Marcus Carroll rushed for 163 yards, while Darren Grainger added 143 yards in the win. Jamari Thrash and Ahmon Green added 60 and 29 receiving yards respectively.

Frank Gore Jr. rushed for 87 yards for Southern Miss, while Kenyon Clay added 1 yards. Trey Lowe threw for 84 yards for the Golden Eagles, while receivers Tiaquelin Mims and Jason Brownlee had 68 and 65 yards respectively.

Southern Miss was outgained by Georgia State 521-202 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 31-16 by the Panthers.

Georgia State led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 36:42-23:18 split in that important category.

Next game, Georgia State takes its act home to face Louisiana-Monroe looking for another win. For Southern Miss, they head on the road to face Coastal Carolina.
