USC Defeats San Jose State 56-28 - Recap

San Jose State couldn't hang with the Trojans on Saturday as USC blasted the Spartans 56-28 in Week 1 action at United Airlines Field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Trojans earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -31.0-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 66.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.

Austin Jones rushed for 54 yards, while MarShawn Lloyd added 42 yards in the win. Tahj Washington and Zachariah Branch added 85 and 58 receiving yards respectively.

Quali Conley rushed for 108 yards for San Jose State, while Chevan Cordeiro added 52 yards. Chevan Cordeiro threw for 198 yards for the Spartans, while receivers Nick Nash and Charles Ross had 89 and 62 yards respectively.

USC outgained San Jose State 501-396 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 25-24 by the Trojans.

The time of possession battle favored San Jose State as their offense was on the field for 30:42, longer than the 29:18 of their opponents.

USC looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Nevada. San Jose State will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Oregon State.
