Hokies Fall 35-16 Against Rutgers - Game Recap
The Hokies had no answer for Kyle Monangai on Saturday as the Scarlet Knights rolled to a 35-16 win at SHI Stadium.
Rutgers won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -6.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 37.0.
Kyle Monangai rushed for 143 yards, while Gavin Wimsatt added 87 yards in the win. Christian Dremel and Isaiah Washington added 34 and 5 receiving yards respectively.
Kyron Drones rushed for 74 yards for Virginia Tech, while Bhayshul Tuten added 45 yards. Kyron Drones threw for 190 yards for the Hokies, while receivers Da'Quan Felton and Da'Wain Lofton had 84 and 26 yards respectively.
Virginia Tech outgained Rutgers 319-302 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 18-14 by the Hokies.
Virginia Tech led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:44-26:16 split in that important category.
Rutgers looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Michigan. Virginia Tech will aim to get back on the winning track at Marshall.
