Spartans Fall 21-17 Against Toledo - Game Recap
San Jose State was unable to contain Peny Boone on Saturday and the result was a 21-17 Week 3 loss against the Rockets.
Toledo did not, however, defeat the Spartans against the spread, which closed at -9.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 56.5.
Peny Boone rushed for 123 yards, while Dequan Finn added 62 yards in the win. Jerjuan Newton and Devin Maddox added 31 and 22 receiving yards respectively.
Kairee Robinson rushed for 50 yards for San Jose State, while Quali Conley added 11 yards. Chevan Cordeiro threw for 228 yards for the Spartans, while receivers Nick Nash and Malikhi Miller had 80 and 50 yards respectively.
Toledo outgained San Jose State 321-268 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 18-16 by the Spartans.
San Jose State led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 34:50-25:10 split in that important category.
Next game, Toledo takes its act home to face Western Michigan looking for another win. For San Jose State, they head home to face Air Force.
