Gators Down Charlotte 22-7 - Match Report
Ricky Pearsall was good for 104 receiving yards on Saturday as the Gators grabbed a 22-7 win over the 49ers at Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The Gators won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -28.0-point spread. UNDER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an UNDER play.
Montrell Johnson Jr. rushed for 63 yards, while Trevor Etienne added 48 yards in the win. Ricky Pearsall and Caleb Douglas added 104 and 37 receiving yards respectively.
Jalon Jones rushed for 65 yards for Charlotte, while Henry Rutledge added 30 yards. Trexler Ivey threw for 22 yards for the 49ers, while receivers Colin Weber and Duane Thomas Jr. had 54 and 30 yards respectively.
Florida outgained Charlotte 395-210 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 21-10 by the Gators.
Charlotte lost the time of possession battle 31:35-28:25, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Florida looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Kentucky. Charlotte will aim to get back on the winning track at SMU.
