SMU Defeats UCONN 62-50 - Recap
Xavier Jones scampered through the UCONN defense for 133 yards as SMU handed the Huskies a 62-50 defeat on Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
The Mustangs earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -18.0-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 65.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Xavier Jones rushed for 133 yards, while Ke'Mon Freeman added 116 yards in the win. James Proche and Ryan Becker added 101 and 59 receiving yards respectively.
Kevin Mensah rushed for 184 yards for UCONN, while David Pindell added 181 yards. David Pindell threw for 215 yards for the Huskies, while receivers Aaron McLean and Kyle Buss had 82 and 46 yards respectively.
UCONN lost the offensive yardage battle to SMU 594-580 yards in Saturday's game. UCONN had more first downs as that total ended up 34-24.
SMU lost the time of possession battle 35:25-24:35, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
SMU looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Memphis. UCONN will aim to get back on the winning track at East Carolina.
