Montreal Skates Past Tampa Bay 5-4 - Recap

Montreal earned a 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay on Saturday, but needed a shootout to do it at Amalie Arena.

Corey Schueneman, Jesse Ylonen, Josh Anderson, and Cole Caufield each scored for the Canadiens in the victory. Caufield opened the scoring for Montreal.

Jake Allen turned in a 37-save effort for the Canadiens.

Tampa Bay got goals from Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, and Anthony Cirelli in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Brian Elliott stopped 27 of 31 shots for the Lightning, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Montreal went 0-for-2, while the Lightning were 2-for-3 with the man advantage.

Montreal lost the shots on goal battle to Tampa Bay by a margin of 41-31.

Montreal heads into a battle against the Senators. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, will have their next action against Toronto.
