coach cal 77

Las Vegas - Statement game. That's what we're expecting from John Calipari and Kentucky. After an UGLY 2020/21 campaign and that 9-16 record, Coach Cal and the Wildcats have bounced back really strong with a gorgeous 26-7 record. Actually, that 9-16 last season was Cal's first losing record since his first year at Massachusetts back in 1988/89. Been a minute huh. Obviously, Kentucky has the better team, WAY better, and the better athletes, including the monster in the middle, Oscar Tshiebwe. The Big O, and when we say big, we mean YUGE, tips the scale at 275 pounds on a 6'8" frame. St. Peter's will counter with KC Ndefo in the post. Sure KC was the MVP of the MAAC tourney, but he is a toothpick, tips the scale at 195 pounds, and will not be able to control Oscar in the paint. And while the Peacocks come to Indy on a seven game winning streak, beating Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Manhattan (the college, not the borough) and Niagara (the university, not the Falls), those wins are not exactly making me nervous. The Wildcats know how to crush the weak sisters of the NCAA world, beating Robert Morris 100-60, Mount St. Mary's 80-55, Albany (the college, not the city) 86-61 and North Florida 86-52. The last time Kentucky opened with a can of corn was back in 2019 when Abilene Christian was the first round opponent. The 'Cats obliterated the OTHER Wildcats, Abilene, 79-44. The calculator tells me that's a 35 point margin of victory. Do we mind laying the big fat 18 point spread tonight? Nah. Not when the final will look something like 86-58!
