Las Vegas - If you're thinking about a wager on the TaxAct Texas Bowl tonight between Kansas State and LSU, we have some information. If you're wondering WHY they're playing this game, we have NO clue. Here are a few names that you might or might not know. Myles Brennan, Max Johnson and Garrett Nussmeier. All three play or played QB for LSU and ALL three are NOT gonna play QB for LSU this evening. Well, maybe. LSU still has not disclosed the NCAA's ruling on the team's appeal for freshman Nussmeier to not lose his redshirt season if he plays in the bowl game. So, we'll see. If the kid can't go, then the Tigers would have to look at WALK-ON Matt O'Dowd or WR Jontre Kirklin, who was a dual-threat QB in high school. YIKES!

Kansas State lists QB Skylar Thompson as probable, so he'll play. Maybe. He hurt his ankle and missed the last game of the season, but K-State coach Chris Klieman says that Skylar has looked fine in practice and barring any last minute setbacks, should get the start. In the finale against Texas, Will Howard started for the Wildcats in place of Thompson and was 9 of 13 for only 65 yards. Again, YIKES!

LSU has to deal with some players opting out, while K-State does not. LSU's new head coach, Brian Kelly, will NOT X & O this game, leaving that to offensive line coach Brad Davis. K-State's head guy Klieman just pink slipped his offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, so there's that.

Are there any bright spots? Well, yea. Deuce Vaughn is a consensus All-American this season, ranking in the top 10 nationally in all-purpose yards (144.1 per game) and total TDs (18). He gobbled up 1,246 rushing yards and snagged 47 receptions. We're gonna wait and see what's up with Skylar until deciding on the wager. If Sky goes and Deuce is ready, it's a few pennies, VERY few, on K-State. If the Sky has fallen, the our wallet is shut tight. Just got an alert and saw the line ROCKET all the way up, with Kansas State now a -7 point favorite. That's a TEN POINT SWING, and that's a little too rich for my blood. So, the Bank of Eck is CLOSED!
