College Football Week 8 Betting Preview

Week 8 of the college football season is packed with ranked matchups starting with a Top 10 clash from the Big Ten as the No. 6 Penn State Nittany Lions take on the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes.

At the Bovada Sportsbook the Buckeyes are 4-point home favorites. Ohio State is 6-0 straight up and 3-2-1 against the spread after last week’s 41-7 win over the Purdue Boilermakers as 17-point favorites. When favored at home the Buckeyes are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games and versus opponents with winning records they’re 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11.

Penn State is 6-0 SU and ATS and is coming off a 63-0 rout of the Massachusetts Minutemen as 42-point favorites. The Nittany Lions have won 11 straight at 10-0-1 ATS but as underdogs they’ve lost their last six games with a 2-4 ATS record.

Last season Ohio State defeated Penn State 44-31 as 15.5-point favorites. Ohio State has won six straight in this matchup with a 1-5 ATS record.

Florida State two-TD favorite taking on Duke

In the ACC this weekend the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles host the No. 17 Duke Blue Devils as 14-point favorites.

Florida State is 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS and is coming off a 41-3 win over the Syracuse Orange as 19-point favorites. The Seminoles have won 12 straight with an 8-4 ATS record and at home they’ve won six in a row at 4-2 ATS.

Duke is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS and last week got past the N.C. State Wolfpack 24-3 as 4-point favorites. The Blue Devils are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games and have been a solid wager as an underdog at 5-1 ATS in their last six.

Florida State has dominated this matchup with 17 straight wins and a 12-5 ATS record.

Utes underdogs on the road against Trojans

In the Pac-12 this weekend the No. 10 USC Trojans host the No. 16 Utah Utes as 7-point favorites.

USC is 6-1 SU and 2-5 ATS and is coming off its first loss after falling to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 48-20 as 3-point underdogs. The Trojans have lost four straight ATS, but at home they’ve won 11 games in a row SU with a 7-4 ATS record.

Utah is 5-1 SU and 3-2-1 ATS and is coming off a 34-14 win over the California Golden Bears as 9.5-point favorites. As road underdogs the Utes are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games.

Last season Utah defeated USC 47-24 as 2.5-point underdogs. In this matchup Utah has won three straight with a 2-1 ATS record.
