RBC Canadian Open Betting Preview

The PGA Tour heads north to Canada this week for the RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto.

At the Bovada Sportsbook the favorite on the Canadian Open odds is Rory McIlroy at +550. McIlroy is the defending champion of the Canadian Open and last year shot 22-under par at St. George’s Golf and Country Club to edge Tony Finau by two strokes.

That was essentially McIlroy’s second straight Canadian Open win. He also won at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in 2019 and the tournament was cancelled by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. McIlroy tied for seventh at last week’s Memorial Tournament, which was the same finish he recorded in the PGA Championship last month. Prior to the PGA Championship he had been floundering by his lofty standards with two missed cuts in his previous four tournaments.

Hatton, Young, Fitzpatrick, Burns follow on odds

Following McIlroy on the odds list for this week are Tyrell Hatton at +1100, and Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Sam Burns all at +1400.

Hatton finished tied for 12th at the Memorial last week and tied for 15th at the PGA Championship. Before that he posted back-to-back top-five finishes in the Wells Fargo Championship and the AT&T Byron Nelson. Hatton does not have a win on tour this season with his best result coming in The PLAYERS Championship where he ended up second behind World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

The trio of Young, Fitzpatrick, and Burns all missed the cut at the PGA Championship. Young’s best finish on Tour this year came at the Masters where he tied for seventh, but since then he has not challenged for the top of the leaderboard and he missed the cut last week at the Memorial.

Fitzpatrick is looking for more consistent results

Fitzpatrick has missed the cut five times this season sandwiched around a win at the RBC Heritage. He did look good last week at the Memorial where he tied for seventh place.

Burns bounced back from his poor performance at the PGA Championship at the Charles Schwab Challenge where he finished tied for sixth which was his third top-10 result this year. At the Memorial he finished tied for 16th place.

If you’re looking for the Canadian player with the best odds this week Corey Conners is listed at +1800. Conners recorded his second career PGA Tour win earlier this year in the Valero Texas Open. No Canadian has won the Canadian Open since Pat Fletcher in 1954.
