Las Vegas - Gotta talk about the elephant in the room. Arch Manning and Texas. Ohio State opened as a -3 point favorite but the YUGE green river of money is flowing toward the Longhorns. How big is that river? SO big that Texas is now -1.5 points over the Buckeyes. So, do you follow Arch and the money? There was one game last Saturday where we had a switch of favorites. Stanford opened -2.5 points over Hawaii, but the Rainbow Warriors closed -2.5 and covered the spread with a 23-20 win. Woulda tickled the 'Horns at +2.5, but gonna take a pass now that they're the favorite.
Two teams, Tennessee and Syracuse, both Orange, and both are introducing new quarterbacks. Joey Aguilar takes over for the Volunteers after two seasons at Appalachian State. The kid is talented but we're a little worried about his TD (23) to INT (14) ratio. And that was playing a schedule of mostly cupcakes in the Sun Belt. Syracuse will give the keys to QB Steve Angeli who played for Notre Dame the past few years. Angeli has no problem with the bright lights after playing in the College Football Playoff semifinal and championship games last season. In the semi against Penn State, he drove the Irish to the house for the winning score. He completed 58 of 80 passes (72.5%) at South Bend for 772 yards with 10 TDs and only 1 INT. Even though Tennessee is listed as the bottom team on the betting board, PLZ note that this game is on a neutral field at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Vols might squeeze out a win, but the Bank of Benj is open for taking +13.5 points and of course, if you can, buy the hook to +14.
