Virginia Defeats Old Dominion 16-14 - Recap

Keytaon Thompson inflicted damage on the Old Dominion secondary, receiving 118 yards as Virginia defeated the Monarchs 16-14 at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium.

The Cavaliers won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -9.0-point spread. UNDER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an UNDER play.

Xavier Brown rushed for 88 yards, while Perris Jones added 56 yards in the win. Keytaon Thompson and Dontayvion Wicks added 118 and 85 receiving yards respectively.

Blake Watson rushed for 70 yards for Old Dominion, while Tariq Sims added 17 yards. Hayden Wolff threw for 235 yards for the Monarchs, while receivers Ali Jennings III and Zack Kuntz had 97 and 83 yards respectively.

Virginia outgained Old Dominion 513-324 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 26-20 by the Cavaliers.

Old Dominion lost the time of possession battle 33:32-26:28, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Virginia takes its act on the road to face Syracuse looking for another win. For Old Dominion, they head home to face Arkansas State.
