Aggies vs Miners Final: 28-16 - Recap
Utah State earned a 28-16 victory over UTEP on Saturday in Week 1 action at Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium.
Utah State won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -5.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 58.0.
Miles Davis rushed for 88 yards, while Bryson Barnes added 29 yards in the win. Miles Davis and Broc Lane added 61 and 52 receiving yards respectively.
Kam Thomas rushed for 36 yards for UTEP, while Ashten Emory added 31 yards. Malachi Nelson threw for 178 yards for the Miners, while receivers Kenny Odom and Eric Willis III had 97 and 35 yards respectively.
Utah State outgained UTEP 360-284 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 19-18 by the Miners.
Utah State led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 30:37-29:23 split in that important category.
Next game, Utah State takes its act on the road to face Texas A&M looking for another win. For UTEP, they head home to face Tennessee-Martin.
