New Mexico Falls 34-17 to Wolverines - Recap

New Mexico was unable to contain Justice Haynes on Saturday and the result was a 34-17 Week 1 loss against the Wolverines.

The Wolverines won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -34.5-point spread. OVER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an OVER play.

Justice Haynes rushed for 159 yards, while Jordan Marshall added 29 yards in the win. Marlin Klein and Channing Goodwin added 93 and 49 receiving yards respectively.

Scottre Humphrey rushed for 33 yards for New Mexico, while Damon Bankston added 18 yards. Jack Layne threw for 208 yards for the Lobos, while receivers Dorian Thomas and Michael Buckley had 71 and 45 yards respectively.

Michigan outgained New Mexico 452-267 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 21-20 by the Lobos.

Michigan lost the time of possession battle 33:02-26:58, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Michigan takes its act on the road to face Oklahoma looking for another win. For New Mexico, they head home to face Idaho State.
