Hawkeyes vs Minutemen Final: 47-7 - Recap
The battle between the Hawkeyes and Minutemen didn't turn out to be much of a battle at all as Massachusetts was handed a 47-7 defeat on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Hawkeyes were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -35.0 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 45.0.
Nathan McNeil rushed for 56 yards, while Jaziun Patterson added 54 yards in the win. Sam Phillips and Nathan McNeil added 75 and 32 receiving yards respectively.
Rocko Griffin rushed for 28 yards for Massachusetts, while Donnie Gray added 9 yards. AJ Hairston threw for 56 yards for the Minutemen, while receivers Jacquon Gibson and Donnie Gray had 37 and 27 yards respectively.
Massachusetts lost the offensive yardage battle to Iowa 435-119 yards in Saturday's game. Iowa had more first downs as that total ended up 22-8.
Iowa led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 32:04-27:56 split in that important category.
Iowa heads into a Week 4 battle against Rutgers. Massachusetts, meanwhile, will have their next action against Missouri.
