Recap - Pirates Defeat Army 28-6

East Carolina cruised to victory on Thursday, as they ran up a 28-6 score against Army in Week 5 action at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Bettors who backed the Pirates were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -3.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 53.0.

London Montgomery rushed for 58 yards, while Marlon Gunn Jr. added 53 yards in the win. Anthony Smith and Yannick Smith added 87 and 56 receiving yards respectively.

Noah Short rushed for 127 yards for Army, while Dewayne Coleman added 51 yards. Cale Hellums threw for 13 yards for the Black Knights, while receivers Samari Howard and Noah Short had 26 and 13 yards respectively.

Army lost the offensive yardage battle to East Carolina 431-290 yards in Thursday's game. East Carolina had more first downs as that total ended up 23-12.

The time of possession battle favored Army as their offense was on the field for 34:02, longer than the 25:58 of their opponents.

East Carolina heads into a Week 7 battle against Tulane. Army, meanwhile, will have their next action against UAB.
