Demon Deacons vs Mustangs Final: 13-12 - Recap
The Demon Deacons grabbed a Week 9 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday, winning 13-12 at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Demon Deacons were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as an underdog of +5.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 52.5.
Demond Claiborne rushed for 73 yards, while Ty Clark III added 12 yards in the win. Chris Barnes and Sterling Berkhalter added 66 and 58 receiving yards respectively.
Chris Johnson Jr. rushed for 29 yards for SMU, while TJ Harden added 25 yards. Kevin Jennings threw for 171 yards for the Mustangs, while receivers RJ Maryland and Yamir Knight had 51 and 32 yards respectively.
SMU lost the offensive yardage battle to Wake Forest 301-246 yards in Saturday's game. Wake Forest had more first downs as that total ended up 17-8.
SMU lost the time of possession battle 32:22-27:38, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Wake Forest looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Florida State. SMU will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Miami-FL.
