Las Vegas - After 40+ years on the gambling beat, we have NEVER seen a line move ELEVEN points! Late Sunday afternoon, when the opening numbers for this week started to filter out, the Ravens opened around -9.5 points over the Texans. Then Lamar Jackson was injured and there was a FLOOD of Houston money that didn't really slow down until yesterday. Houston is now -1.5 and that is a YO ELEVEN POINT line move. No doubt Lamar is fabulous, but don't think he is worth 11 points. Maybe Jackson is worth six/seven points, but the injuries on the defensive side have affected the spread as well. Who? The best of the best. Marlon Humphrey (All-Pro), Roquan Smith (All-Pro), Nnamdi Madubuike (Pro Bowl), Kyle Van Noy (Pro Bowl) and Nate Wiggins. That's why we had a GINORMOUS line swing.
On to this evening and the NFC West battle of California. Looking at the Rams for the win because they know how to beat this team. Did it twice last season. Then there is the gigantic list of San Francisco injuries. The 49ers lost their best defensive player, DE Nick Bosa (5x Pro Bowl), and superstar TE George Kittle will not be on the field. Making matters worse, QB Brock Purdy is listed as questionable with the dreaded turf toe. So, not excited about laying points in a rivalry game, which is why we're on the Rams money line. And of course we have to drive to Prop City for a couple of winners. Matthew Stafford has thrown seven TDs in his past three games so we're on Stafford Over 1.5 TDs. And while everyone is gonna be on Puka Nucua because he had THIRTEEN receptions last week, this guy is gonna throw some cash at Davante Adams for an anytime TD.
