Las Vegas - Swinging out West tonight for a look at the Padres over the Cards. San Diego is serious about booking a spot in the playoffs. They just landed a super closer, Mason Miller and a solid starter, JP Sears, from the A's. Yu Darvish is back in the rotation and Michael King is just a week or so away. Then they went out and snagged a big time bat, Ryan O'Hearn, from the Orioles. Now the Pads will send Nick Pivetta to the bump and he has been totally RIDONKULOUS since the end of June. Pivetta has won five of the last six and allowed only four earned runs over the last 38 innings for a very, very thin 0.95 ERA. San Diego has had trouble on the road (26-31), but at home inside Petco Park, these kids have a gorgeous 34-18 record. Bank of Benj is wide open for the Padres.
